The holiday season is a time when almost everyone is dashing from one party to another.  One of the biggest challenges women face is finding something to wear.  We all know that you can’t go wrong with a little black dress. It’s the classic go-to piece that every woman should have in her closet.  The simplicity, versatility and slimming effect of a black dress is what most women seem to adore.  It goes from a day at the office to an evening party with ease.  Just wear a blazer over it during the day and it’s the perfect office attire.  At night rid the jacket and add bold accessories to transition into party mode.  It’s important to pick the right silhouette for your body type.  The classic sleeveless shift dress works well with almost every woman, as does the wrap dress.

As classic and beautiful as a black dress can be, why not open up yourself to other options?  How about embracing a red or a white dress?  Trust me, you will find it opens up your options when you have so many places to go this season.  There is something to be said about a lady in red.  Don’t be afraid to wear it because it exudes an air of confidence that will attract everyone around you.  When you walk into the room you are guaranteed to be noticed.  The key to wearing red is not overdoing it.  Wearing everything red from head to toe could get a little overwhelming.  It’s nice to break it up with metallics like silver or gold.  They work well and could be easily worn with your black dress to another occasion too.

If you choose to wear a white dress, it’s also a statement maker.  Especially when people seem to still think you can’t wear white after labour day.  Good riddance to that old archaic rule. That’s a faux pas that should never be in your fashion psyche. Wear white because it’s crisp and looks great with any colour of accessories or shoes you decide to wear.  Avoid cotton dresses the winter or you’ll look like you’re hanging on to summer.  Instead choose fabrics with some more density like crepe, silk or satin.  Choose jersey dresses with a heavier weight that flatters your figure in the right places.

Because white is neutral you can get away with wearing any colour of shoes or handbag you desire.  But keeping in line with the festive season, I suggest choosing metallic accessories here too.  Blush pink also pairs well and is pretty when worn with white.  If you want a pop of colour make your shoes the statement.
