October 11 is International Day of The Girl Child as declared by the United Nations. It’s hard to believe that in 2013 being born a girl in many places still means a life without most of the rights many of us take for granted.
Basic things like access to education and the right to live an active childhood simply don’t exist. Issues surrounding human trafficking, modern slavery, forced marriage and even being denied birth rights are still a big problem.
The theme this year for International Day of The Girl Child is Innovating for Girls Education. There is evidence that when you educate a girl it significantly improves her life and access to many things that could lead to a better way of living.
Seek out ways thay you can contribute to the global initiative to improve the lives of girls around the world.
