The Council of Fashion Designers of America had its annual Fashion Awards event at Lincoln Center in New York on Monday June 3, 2013. Fashion’s best and brightest were in attendance for this event where former Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton joked about her pantsuits by saying she’d pitch a reality show to Bravo! and call it Project Pantsuit. Clinton was on hand to present Oscar de la Renta with the Founder’s Award. Ms. Clinton said, “His name alone evokes elegance and timeless beauty and each of his designs give each of us a chance to feel like we’re special too.”
Proenza Schouler won the Womenswear Designer of The Year award for the third time. Vera Wang won the Lifetime Achievement Award which was presented to her by Ralph Lauren. Thom Browne was awarded Menswear Designer of the year and Phillip Lim received Accessory Designer of the Year. The Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent went to Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty, designers of Suno. Fashion Journalist Tim Blanks was given the Media Award.
The night was not only filled with great awards and honorees but also fashion. Of course you can’t be at a CFDA event and not take notice of the red carpet style.
