STYLE | Revisiting Punk Era

The Met Ball was held on May 6, 2013 in New York and it’s theme this year was Punk: Chaos to Couture.  Most celebrities came out looking as they usually do on the red carpet; elegant, classy and sexy.  Many missed the mark on the theme and it almost made you wonder if anyone got the ‘punk’ memo.  But there were a few who took the punk theme literally and really channeled the era to its fullest.  It appeared that Madonna got a re-awakening of the early days in her career.  She stepped out in real punk with a schoolgirl twist.  She said she’s always admired that era but didn’t want to interpret it literally.

Sienna Miller turned heads in her long white dress topped with a studded motorcycle style jacket all by Burberry.  Miley Cyrus got it right as she continued to ditch her clean-cut Disney reputation with her punked haircut and the fishnet floor length dress she wore by Marc Jacobs.  Cyrus said, “I felt like I was a punk rock Adams Family Morticia.”  Meanwhile, Nicole Richie stepped out in a white dress by Topshop and newly dyed silver hair to match.  She was almost unrecognizable with the new do.
