“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that
something else is more important than fear.”
If you ever watched the classic 1939 movie “The Wizard of Oz” you’re sure to remember the character of the Cowardly Lion. He was afraid of everything. Not exactly what one would expect from a lion. Many of us face our lives just like that lion did in the movie – with fear.
Sometimes fear makes us act like a brick wall and just stand there. Don’t allow fear to trap you like a brick sandwiched between others and with your back against the wall forever.
Realizing that what you want is greater than the fear you have of it, is the first step to gaining the courage to go for it. I’ll say it again. You should realize that what you want is GREATER than the FEAR that you have.
Going one step further, know that the ability to visualize what you are going for will help you achieve what you want. Always have a mental picture of what it is that you want to realized in your life. When you feel fear creeping back in, that’s the moment to close your eyes and see it! Visualize it like a dream.
In the end of the film “The Wizard of Oz”, the Cowardly Lion eventually faced fear and earned his badge of courage. Have you face your fears yet? Are you ready to earn your badge of courage? When you finally do it, you’ll wonder why you ever allowed fear to have such a hold on you.
