Sometimes our lives are in chaos because we have too much going on. Clutter. Whether it’s in our homes or in our personal lives. When there is too much ‘stuff’ it’s difficult to really move forward with a clear focus. How exactly does one start on the journey of a simplified life?
Figure out what is important to you. The things that are not important should be limited or even eliminated from your life. Those things can easily keep you from doing the things you are supposed to do. I found myself taking on too many things in my life that resulted in a lack of focus. I needed to learn to say ‘no’ to the things that were not fruitful or were not in line with my goals and purpose. Those things took away from my true passions. Once I learned to eliminate, my focus was much clearer.
Sometimes others have a difficult time with people who are eliminating ‘clutter’. They can try to talk you into doing things you don’t want to. If you have to, limit your time with those people who are not willing to let you simplify your life.
The amount of physical clutter you accumulate can also be a cause for chaos in your life. Doing things like keeping a paper shredder is one way of staying clutter-free. Plenty of paper is one of the ways people find themselves under clutter. If you’ve ever watched the reality television show Hoarders, you have seen what having too much can do to a person. It’s very easy to accumulate physical things especially in a world where buying new items is so easy. Twice a year spend some time getting rid of things you either don’t use or no longer need. Donate them, sell them online and throw away the things that are simply garbage.
