Ivy Prosper Featured Speaker at TEDxAccra March 7, 2021

IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MARCH 6, 2020, ACCRA, GHANA — After a five-year hiatus, TEDxAccra is making its comeback with an interactive virtual experience. Taking place on March 6–7, 2020, organizers have partnered with CEEK VR, a virtual reality streaming platform, to create an unforgettable event. With the global pandemic forcing many of us to stay home and social distance, creating a virtual event was the best way forward.

TEDxAccra’s theme is ‘Forces that Unite’ . This is inspired by the book, “Africa Must Unite’ written by Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. “We are excited to partner with CEEK for what promises to be a unique and immersive experience for audiences,” said Kojo Oppong, organizer of TEDxAccra. He also said they wanted to make this an experience that would be available to everyone and with the free streaming from CEEK, it became a possibility.

Ivy Prosper’s talk, The Power of Digital Media in Bridging the Gap Between Africa and the Diaspora, is set for Sunday March 7th at 6:35pm GMT (Accra/London) 1:35pm EST (Toronto/New York). She was selected as a speaker due to her increased presence when it comes to changing the narrative of Africa. She has worked as a producer in documentary film and as a TV Host and Reporter. She’s also published the book, ‘Your Essential Guide on Moving to Ghana’, (two editions), where she shared insight on moving to Ghana as a person from North America.

She is the Social Media Manager for the ‘Year of Return — 2019’ and ‘Beyond the Return’, perhaps Ghana’s biggest initiatives to invite the global diaspora community to visit and potentially repatriate to the country. Her work has helped put Ghana in the spotlight through digital content on platforms for both campaigns under Ghana Tourism Authority. She continues to engage with the diaspora community as a content creator on her YouTube Channel, Ivy Prosper, where she shares stories from Ghana through her series, ‘Your Guide on Ghana’.

Other speakers for the event include, Eugene Ayisi; Founding Director, Dominion Capital, Max Rivera; Head of EMEA Expansion at SNAP Inc., Bernard Sokpe; Co-Founder of Brandmeister and Ripple Influence, Amma Gyampo; Co-Founder and CEO of Scale up Africa, Jacqueline Jones; Head of Strategic Partnerships For Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging at LinkedIn, Joshua Andrews-Egyir; Educator and Youth Activist and Kym Oliver; Co-Founder of Triple Cripple.
