Accra Fashion Week recently wrapped up with 4 days of events that included 2 days of runway shows.  On the first night, new talent and emerging designers were given the platform to showcase their work.

The evening began with a student design competition and wrapped up with a beautiful collection from Dina Adão, a new designer from Guinea-Bissau.  The romantic collection was full of ruffles, flowers and pretty silhouettes.  The designer was excited to be a part of Accra Fashion Week and share her creativity in another African country.  This was her very first runway show and you would never know she hasn’t shown her work on a platform like this before.

At present she doesn’t have any social media presence and has relied on selling her clothing by word of mouth in her community.  After the show, I’m certain her work will gain more attention and even clients across the content.
