“One of the key things about the book is that I grounded in all my experiences, not just about grief but about things I enjoy,” said Bozoma Saint John to a group gathered for her Book Launch in Accra, Ghana. After being on a whirlwind tour of her book, The Urgent Life, she took the time to bring the launch to Ghana, her country of heritage. Over the years she has been a big advocate of promoting Ghana to the world which made it very important for her to do a special event in Ghana.

‘The Urgent Life’ is her first published book where she opens up about her life and all the experiences that have led her on the journey to success. How she coped through the grief of losing a loved one to suicide, then losing her husband to cancer.

Doing a Book Launch in Ghana was especially important to her because of her love for her Motherland. Born in the U.S., she lived in Ghana for part of her formative years before returning back to the United States. She has used her high-profile to influence some of her celebrity friends to visit Ghana over the last few years. She and Actor Boris Kodjoe, whose father is Ghanaian, gathered several friends to visit Ghana in 2018 and 2019 in what was dubbed the ‘Full Circle Festival’.
