African printed fabrics are often not even made on the continent. One of the most popular brands, Vlisco, is made in Holland. While many others are made in China. Making the effort to find African made materials  challenging. 

I met textile designer Rosemond Robertson at Ghana Fashion and Design Week where she was exhibiting hhe latest collection of fabrics and spoke to me about what she does. Her brand is called Maakai Textile Print Design and is based in Accra.
